Ain't it the truth?
Dec. 2nd, 2008 01:39 pmI think there's a universal Law of Supermarket P.A. music. I think it goes something like this:
Any annoying and/or seasonal music will be loudly played over the P.A. without interruption. All songs that are mildly interesting or entertaining will be interrupted numerous times with silly announcements by employees or advertisements for things people don't want. This is to ensure that there is actually zero total enjoyment from songs played over the P.A.
Now, I don't particularly like Avril Lavigne, but at least her song had a peppy tempo and it wasn't stinking, crooning Christmas music! I think I must have heard 10% of that song. No line went uninterrupted. Gah! And I think I heard "White Christmas" three times in its entirety. Gag.
