A classmate looking for a professor came by my office and asked:

I need something signed.  Did Sarah go home for the day?

Me:  Yes.

But did I?  No.

Me:  It's a possibility.  She had her coat on and all of her stuff with her and she said "Goodbye.  Have a good day," as she left.

Classmate:  So she's gone?

Me:  Maybe...

Christ.  I think this may be taking the "Thou shall not make causal inferences from correlated variables" tenet one step too far.  A nice break from research is both needed and welcome.

On a completely different note, a random stranger on the bus complemented my hat.  Rock!

And on yet a completely different note, at the end of our meeting, I got into a very spirited discussion on Kill Bill and whether or not the violence in it was hyper sexualized or not.  I took the position (and am of the opinion) that it is not.  I even went into the whole analysis that incorporated Volume Two about which Death Squad Five members got the "honorable" deaths in the heat of battle (the women, not Budd) and how Tarantino effectively flipped the genre so that while femininity is included in the climactic orgasm of violence found in most traditionally masculine kung fu/revenge movies, it is not sexualized further than those movies on which KB is based.  The woman with whom I was debating then said the guy that she saw the movie with thought the final battle with O-Ren was "hot."  *sigh*  Maybe I do need a little break from thinking too much.
