I picked the right career!
Oct. 19th, 2005 01:31 pmDoctors get free samples of pharmaceuticals; restaurant owners get free samples of produce and packaging; I get free books!
This time I didn't even have to lie that I was teaching soon. I just found out that I have a Methods class this summer. It's all mine. I get to pick the text, I make up the syllabus, I make the test questions, I give the projects, I grade everything.
PANIC!
EXCITEMENT!
Plus, my advisor is in rare form. Every few months she has this complete breakdown about the status of our project. One participant was a no-show for an interview and now the advisor's lost it. She's planning on canceling her sabbatical and doing interviews until she drops. The main problem is: Her fretting and worrying seems to be contagious. I'm normally pretty laid back, but I went in to the department coordinator the other day about a worry of mine and she said, "You're more like your advisor every day." Uh-oh. I'd take that as a compliment in any other context.
