Civic duty: Done!
Nov. 3rd, 2009 10:59 amI voted today.
I almost feel bad about it. The vote was only for state seats and
scribefigaro and I probably won't be living in this state much longer. So it's like, "I'm voting for these people, BYE!"
I like many things about voting. One: I get to have a voice in our government. Two: I get a sticker that says "I voted!" And Three: No more political ads on television!
Seriously, I think it should be illegal for one candidate to talk about another candidate in political ads. It should also be illegal for them to lie or misrepresent the truth. I think political ads should consist of ONLY a candidate speaking about their current platform and beliefs, their experience, and their past actions within government. It just seems like all political ads try to keep me from voting for some other person rather than telling me why I should vote for the one running the ad. It just really sucks that I still have to look up candidates to figure out what their platforms are even though I've seen at least an hour of their different political advertisements on television.
Voting is awesome!
