To start out with, let me say that I am a really light sleeper most of the time. An eleven pound dog jumping off of the bed is enough to wake me up most mornings. If I'm really tired, I sleep a little heavier. But generally, I sleep really lightly and any unexpected noises or motions or whatever are enough to wake me up.
That being said, I have a remarkable capacity to fall asleep in libraries.
I don't know what it is. Maybe it's being surrounded by books and the feeling of security they bring me. Maybe it's because everyone is trying to be quiet. I don't know.
What I do know is that I've fallen asleep in every library I've entered. I don't sleep every time, but it's fair to say that I sleep a majority of the times I go to the library. And I sleep well. As an undergrad, I used to plan for a good hour's nap when I went to the library to read and get out of the dorm. Even now, I go to the library to do some writing and research, and wake up a half an hour later with my arm asleep because I've been using it as a pillow. I am not a light sleeper when I sleep in the library.
Weird.
