Busy, busy, busy
Jun. 3rd, 2006 12:31 pmI can't believe this was only a 4-day week.
I suppose the cold/flu/whatever didn't make it go by any faster. But I am feeling better and can now concentrate on exactly how much work I have ahead of me.
I had an epiphany on the way in to teach statistics on Thursday. It went something like this: "There is absolutely no way that I'm going to get these kids to like me or to like stats no matter what I do. They are going to be miserable and are only taking this class because it's required. There is nothing I can do about that; it is the nature of statistics. But since I like statistics, at least I should have some fun and not let their hatred of me affect me. At least I'll have fun with this."
And I had a blast.
Them? Not so much. But I do think I'm getting through to them a little bit.
In other news, the puppy is settling back into city life quite well. I've been making it a point to not neglect his retriever nature and we play fetch out between the buildings for at least 30 minutes every day. Yesterday, he had such a good time with it, he started an impromptu game of tag with me, which he hasn't done in almost a year. It was great fun.
