Life and Meme

starzkiYesterday I was a steaming pile of fail. Ugh.
Then, this morning I woke up to puppy barf on the carpet. Just gross.
So: MEME!

I don't remember the first time that I saw The Last Unicorn. I was incredibly young. I was also really into horses. So a movie about a beautiful, white magical horse-like creature who also turns into a beautiful young woman impacted me. I also adored the soundtrack. It was quite mournful and lovely. So it hit all of my buttons as a kid. I wasn't even all that into the romance with the prince (I thought he was goofy looking). This icon captures the sad thoughtfulness of the unicorn as she continues her quest to find if there are other unicorns in the world. It's preeeeeeety.

I watched the first version of Fullmetal Alchemist and saw a spark (heh) between these two. I adored Riza's badassery and thought that Roy was sex on a stick. She didn't take shit from him and he genuinely respected her. These are all elements that do things for me, shipping-wise. Then, after watching FMA: Brotherhood, I saw a whole new dimension to their relationship. It was even more steeped in loyalty and respect and it's just really gorgeous. Just because I don't write a ship or am not active in the fandom doesn't mean I'm not shipping it like crazy. I love these two and I just wanted an icon that showed how awesome they are. (And, yes,aamalie, I say I haven't written them yet because I have a story in my head for them. I hope it comes out some day. I just need time, incentive, and not to be so obsessed with another Full Metal fandom that's overwhelming my brains.)
IY Kagura
The Inuyasha series has a lot of great, complicated characters. One of my favorites is Kagura. She was created to be evil and to do Naraku's bidding. Yet she has her own defiant personality and hates that he holds her heart in order to manipulate her into doing what he wants. She's a tragic character and still handles herself with dignity. This gorgeous icon, I think, really portrays that.
ATLA Feminist Rage
I admit that I stole this icon because it made me lol. Avatar: The Last Airbender is a series made of awesome. There is not a character that I can think of (outside Ozai) that I don't love for some reason. Katara can get a lot of flack for having to be the "mom" of the group, but she has her moments when she loses her temper and gets all fun, too. I love the text "FEMINIST RAGE" too. Lord knows, I often have it. And I figured I would have a chance to use this icon appropriately sometime in the future. :D
IY MirSan embrace
These two. Yikes. I love them each individually and ship them together so much. They are wonderful, complicated characters who's strengths and weaknesses are so complimentary that they just seem to belong together. I just love this icon. The embrace seems so tender and it really shows how precious Sango is to Miroku. I squealed when I saw it and had to have it in my icon collection. This is one of my favorite moments in the series and I just love how this icon was able to capture the feeling that was there. Beautiful.
That was fun.
Now I have to go see if I need to treat the carpet again. D:
