I've written the first drabble for luxken27's Summer Mini Challenge!

Notes:  I started out with a relatively angsty drabble for Sousuke set somewhere about the time of Kaname's kidnapping.  It came from the prompt because sky blue just made me think that Kaname would look up at the sky and just want it.  She's so full of life and desires, a typical 16 year-old girl at the beginning of her life.  This, of course, contrasted with Sousuke, who I would think would be really wary of wanting so much.

That's how this fic came about.  I could see Sousuke being afraid to want anything in his life until he met Kaname.

I actually struggled a bit with the ending.  I kept wanting to turn it into the ending of "Ice and Fire," my last FMP fic.  I loved that story and it's the one I'm most proud of in that fandom.  I think, personally, it holds up well and is kind of my manifesto for Sousuke.  So having writing something from a similar time period with a similar (though not the same) voice really made it hard for me not to conflate them.  I definitely borrowed some ideas, especially the idea of Kaname being a metaphor for fire and passion.
