I've been reading up on my tumor and been freaking out a bit (the only real cure is heart surgery), and that hasn't been so nice. But I just got a call from my doctor's office and he says that he'd rather not do the surgery and just keep an eye on it for now. But then the nurse gave me a list of symptoms to look out for in case I have a stroke.
"Blindness. It could be in one eye, but if it's in both, you'd probably already know to go to the doctor."
"If you can't speak or understand language, even if it's just for a little bit, you should go to the ER."
Umm. DER. Or is it DOY these days? In any case, yeah. I get it. If I have a stroke, I'm to get immediate medical help. I'm pretty sure I'd have done that even if I didn't know I had a tumor in my heart. But thanks!
But the fact that I'm not going to have surgery yet is kind of a relief. I just have to have another examination in 6 months to see if/how it's progressing. Yuck.

Day 27 - A pairing that you loved and ended up hating?
Like I said yesterday, I tend to be pretty darn stubborn in my ships. So if I vastly change my opinion about a pairing, it's because shit went down and it was terrible.
A pairing that I really, really loved and ended up hating was Rory/Dean of Gilmore Girls.
I loved Rory/Dean. From their first meeting to their first kiss (which caused Rory to inadvertently shoplift), they were just cuteness personified. He was tall and nice and he defended her from the jerks at her new private school. He even built her a car from scratch with his own two hands!
I thought they were great together, but when Jess came along, Rory decided she didn't want a "nice" or "dependable" boyfriend. She wanted a jerk. Yes, Jess was smart and handsome, but he was a reckless hooligan and a bit of a mess.
Rory eventually wised up and Jess was history. But in the meantime, Dean had fallen in love with another girl and gotten married right out of high school.
Rory, having trouble adjusting to Yale, wanted to take comfort in her friendship with Dean. At the same time, Dean was finding out that marriage was harder than he expected.
The sad inevitable happened. Rory slept with Married!Dean. It was her first time.
There is really no better way for writers to sink a ship for me than to turn one or both members of the pairing into liars and cheaters who only care about what they want. That's what happened here.
I felt for Rory. She should have stuck with Dean and she regretted that she picked Jess and broke Dean's heart. She wanted to take it back, but it was too late.
She ignored how wrong she was and focused only on what she wanted. So did Dean. And I was forever turned off to this couple.
