Today's meme was tough

This sucks.
So meme time!
Day 12 - Who had the best wedding?
Let me just say that I had the hardest friggin' time with today's question.
Apparently, I ship people who don't get married. Or if they do, they get married off screen/page. Or else they have sucky weddings. Or the wedding is just a dream sequence.
I did think about using one of the weddings from and episode of Friends, or the wedding from a recent episode of Glee, because they were nice and I kind of shipped some of the couples. But I figured I didn't care enough about these people to include them in my shipping prompt.
*FRUSTRATION*
Seriously, for the longest time, I had a non-wedding written down where two characters, who were terribly mismatched, but under a spell, planned a pretty nice wedding.
I decided against that.
Then, I almost went with the Mal/Saffron wedding from Firefly because it was a lovely wedding, even though Mal didn't know it was a wedding and it turned out the bride was an evil bitch from hell.
But no.
Instead, I'm going to have to submit the hilarious/tragic non-wedding that took place between Xander and Anya on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as my answer.
Dammit.
A little background. Xander is the only member of Buffy's group of friends who has no magical abilities. He's basically the Sokka of the group. He tries hard, sometimes even saves the day, but he's not special in the ways that most people in this universe are special.
He fell in love with Anya, a centuries old former vengeance demon who has been turned mortal. I love Anya. Her age and newness to mortality pretty much means she has no filter on her mouth. She says what she means and is unapologetic if she might hurt someone's feelings in doing so.
Somehow, she's fallen in love with Xander, too. They planned to get married. Anya was very excited.
Xander was less excited. He comes from a dysfunctional family and isn't sure he's cut out to be a husband. As the wedding grows nearer and nearer, his apprehensions mount.
Then there's the wedding day.
I chose this as "best wedding" because it was on the road to being quite a good wedding between two characters I shipped. Even when the terrible inevitable happened (Xander leaving Anya at the altar), the wedding was memorable. The guests were hilarious and the non-wedding was spirited. I will never forget it as Anya walked down the aisle alone to the wedding march, crying, only to announce that the wedding was off. My heart broke for her.
It was completely understandable that she went back to her vengeance demon ways afterward.
Damn you Joss! You make me love, then tear it away, then make me love the hole it left.
