Just meme today, I think

starzkiI don't have a lot of time this morning, so I'm just going to focus on the shipping meme for today
Here we go:
Day 11 - What is your dream pairing?
I've decided to take this question almost literally. It helps because there has been one major film this past year that dealt with the very interesting subject of dreaming. It also had two characters which I immediately shipped.
My answer to this question is that my dream pairing is Arthur and Ariadne from Inception.
This scene was just too cute for words.
I really liked Inception. I love what happens when a writer/director fully embraces the flexibility of storytelling when it comes to looking within dreams. The characters were all complex and interesting and it was wonderful to see a movie where the audience was asked to really think about what was going on. I hate dumbed down movies and Inception was one that was even better on the second viewing because I could make more connections about the plot.
I also loved the little flirtation that occurred between Arthur and Ariadne, the secondary characters in this movie. While it wasn't overt, the kiss above was the only real sign of Arthur's crush, it was thrilling enough for my shipper heart to immediately think OTP!
In the movie, Arthur was known as the "point man." He's the one to do all of the research and basically set everything up. He is the person who has to be five steps ahead of everyone else. He has to know, for example, how to fight in a world being jerked around by another dream's car accident. He's always seen as dressed impeccably, rarely a hair out of place. He's the smart one. He's cute. And, it seems, he's got a little thing for Ariadne.
Ariadne is a college student and the "architect." She builds the dream worlds. She also serves as the conscience of the movie. She's the one who questions whether or not it is right for the main character to keep certain secrets from everyone. She's the one who demands accountability. She's young and idealistic and really hopelessly naive. She's adorable.
One of the more interesting confrontations in this movie happens when Ariadne is confronted with the main character's wife. The contrast between the two women is striking. One is passionate, emotional, and womanly (and she will cut a bitch). The other is idealistic, logical, and young. Ariadne is definitely out of her league in this confrontation.
I saw this scene as a possible reason for Ariadne to start looking for love and passion in her life once the events of the movie come to a close.
And, hey look! There's Arthur McCuteypants over there who likes you! You should take him for a spin!
And that's why I consider Arthur/Ariadne my dream pairing.
