Aug. 14th, 2005 05:27 pmI spent an unbelievable amount of
money today. I went to a movie, bought a scented candle, then
bought some pants. Add this to the near $40 I spent on (2) books
on Friday, I'm going to be in trouble, soon. But my apartment was
stinky and I haven't bought new jeans in 2 years. (I wrote 4
years, but then remembered I bought a pair in 2003). That brings
me to a lovely weekend total of about $100. It's a good thing I
need to go on a diet anyway, because I won't be eating for a while.
The movie was good. It was Murderball. It's about wheelchair rugby. A lot of quadriplegic guys smashing their chairs into each other and going to the Olympics. Looked like a lot of fun, actually, but I think I'll stick with soccer.
The books on Friday were so worth it, too. The expensive one, hardback, was Beth Lisick's Everyone Into the Pool. While I didn't share many of the experiences, I definitely share her attitude. Definitely a knee-slapper in some places. I finished it yesterday morning. The next one will take a little longer: Mary Roach's Stiff. It was recommended to me by the girl whose party I'm going to next Saturday. So far it's something I'm definitely into, but I've only gotten through the intro.
And as I sit here and smell my new lavender-scented apartment in my new jeans, I think maybe people just need to spend $100 every once an a while.
