I've got two insistent plot bunnies hopping around in my skull. They're both vignettes, one for each of my current fandoms, IY and FMP. They're both told from the POV of the male half of my main ship (Miroku and Sousuke).

I think I could knock out the FMP fic without too much trouble. Sousuke's pretty down-to-earth, even when he's introspective, so he's not very hard to voice. Also, I've been really considering his characterization over the past couple of weeks. This fic is helping me to explore some of his darker past and aligning it with his present personality. He's had it so rough and, to not treat it lightly, he is a mercenary. Yet he's still sweet and gentle and adorably clueless when it come to Kaname. This fic is a way to connect those two aspects, his harsh past and the way he's actually become himself, an actual person, through meeting, befriending, and ultimately loving Kaname.

The IY fic will probably take a little more digging than I'm used to. It will be just a little drabbly vignette, but I'll need to step out of my usual voice for Miroku and find a way to make it more lyrical and poetic. I'm thinking of setting it as his thoughts during his downtime when he's poisoned (around the time of the kiss) and his thoughts on his religion and love. So I'll also probably have to do some research. Phooey! But it will make the fic better, I think. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out and if I can pull it off.

In any case, I've decided to finish my first draft of my dissertation before I start actually writing these fics. I hope to have Draft 1 done in the next two or three weeks (!!), so they'll probably come out some time in March if I still have any writing momentum. We'll see.
