Another rant about my students
Apr. 30th, 2009 12:38 pmGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Here's the deal:
I have a student. I'll call her A. She is a graduating senior who says she needs my class to graduate.
We have one day left in the semester. She has come to a total of three classes. None of these classes she attended were days that we had tests. In fact, I had to take an hour and a half out of my day for each test she missed so that she could do the make-up test. She claims she's been sick. Personally, I think she's allergic to 8AM.
She's also missed out on the group project because she hasn't attended a class since January. She didn't turn in the paper associated with the project, nor did she show up for when the project was supposed to be presented. Her group members emailed me because she kept missing meetings they were trying to hold about presenting the project. She also has missed all class assignments and not turned in any of the assigned homework.
I figured she had given up on the class. But no. Today, A emailed me something related to her project, but nothing that was supposed to be turned in to me, but what she was supposed to work on with her group.
Arg!
She has begged me earlier to let her do extra credit to make up for the work she has missed. I told her that there were make-up assignments already posted for this class. Guess what she hasn't done. This student is going to be a problem because there is no way that she can pass this class. Even if she gets a 100% on the last test, the highest grade she can make is a 57.
I've never hated a student before.
Just, ugh.
