They've opened another sex toy shop around the corner from me.
This makes three in a one block radius of my apartment. (This is
not counting the three or four fetish stores. Also, the best
tapas restaurant in the city.) The new adult toy store has a sign
promising its merchandise to be "toys + art." I suddenly flashed
forward to the next family visit to my apartment and me explaining the
vibrator displayed above my television like, "But, Daddy, it's art."
I updated my CV today and I feel so accomplished. It turns out every pain-in-the-ass presentation was worth it because now my CV is a page longer than it would have been. I also have eight publications that have either been published or are under review (with another two going out within a month) that have me listed as an author.
In my search for my advisor's CV to use as a template for mine, I unearthed a ton of research I'd already printed up months ago. They were those "I have that article somewhere, but I'm not sure where, exactly," papers. This saves me hours. They were on my desk in a carefully labled manilla folder. They just happened to be under several books, cd's, coupons, and other assorted things I print up off the computer. But yay; more time for me.
Now I have to get geared up for a week that involves me turning in my first booklist and a trip to my Grandma's house for her 80th birthday.
*sigh*
This is a fun neighborhood and it's entirely wasted on me.
