starzki: (Sousuke and Kaname)
I was all het up to write a frustrated blog post about my advisor and her not putting my finishing my dissertation as a priority.  I emailed her today asking about setting up a defense date.  She's had my revisions for over two weeks now and I was wondering how she thought they looked.  However, since it's the end of the semester and she's got a gajillion responsibilities, she's completely swamped with work and probably won't be able to look at them for at least another week.  And it might take another week before she gets back to me.

But she did say that, depending on availability of my other committee members, she's thinking late summer.

D: <== my reaction.

I've written the damned thing!  All I'm doing is revisions.  And let's just say I know someone who's not even finished with his who already has an early summer defense date.

So I was going to come here to fume, but instead answered some questions from my advisor and expressed my desire to just be done with it already because having this over my head is just kind of killing me.

Then, she emailed back and was all completely understanding and willing to go as fast as possible.  So now I can't even be mad at her because she is the awesomest.  But I'm still so goddamed frustrated with the whole process.

On another slightly less (or more) depressing note, I got notes back from another professor that I had asked to look at one of my chapters.  I asked her for her opinion at the beginning of March and she's just now gotten back to me (arg!).  At least I won't just be wasting time waiting for my advisor's revisions now.

(AND GODDAMMIT SPELLCHECK, "ADVISOR" IS A COMPLETELY ACCEPTABLE SPELLING OF THE WORD!  QUIT TELLING ME IT'S WRONG!)
