Reading

I think I'd like to go to a bookstore this weekend and pick up the novel version of a movie I watched last night.  The movie was great/terrible.  It was acted, directed, and produced very well, but the content was impossible to watch.  Very jarring.  I kept having to flip to a rerun of The Daily Show and back to the movie.

But I really want to read the book.

I think it has to do with the fact I'm coding interviews right now.  I read some of the most wrenching testimonies of women and some days it's a real struggle to pick up the interviews again (and I confess to taking many, many days off for my mental health).  So while I don't want to read about terrible things happening to real people, I want to read about terrible things happening to characters in a novel.  The sad thing is that I bet that a lot of what happens in the novel actually has happened to someone, but I still like that one degree of removal from stark reality.

And maybe I'll pick up a booksnack, too.  I call light readings my snacks, because they are tasty and I eat them up in no time at all.  Maybe some King or Koontz's new Odd book.  Something entertaining and completely inconsequential.

Maybe they'll distract me from the blogs I've become addicted to, also.  :)
