I love/hate soccer!
Jan. 27th, 2007 06:14 pmI had a very good/bad game this morning.
Someone (who shall remain nameless) made it very difficult for me to fall asleep last night. I finally took a Benadryl at 1:30 because I had a game to play this morning. The Benadryl worked. It was a bit tough waking up for the game, but I managed.
Anyway, in almost the very first play of the game, I was up against the "wall." Since we play on basketball courts, the "walls" are tarps and netting that hang from floor to ceiling and are weighted at the bottom. They have some give, but they don't move much. To make a long story short, in taking what would have been an excellent shot, I kicked the wall.
I kicked the wall and didn't lock my ankle. Ouch. I hopped about a bit said things that should not be said in front of children. It hurt.
Oh, don't worry. I still played the rest of the game, but my ankle is very sore now.
But that's not even the best part!
I scored the winning goal!
Kind of.
I scored the third goal, but we won 5-4, so if I hadn't scored, we would not have won. So my goal = winning goal.
It was a pretty, pretty goal. I buried that sucker in the back of the net. I apparently play better when something hurts.
It's all so ironic.
