Another scary movie I probably won't see
Mar. 22nd, 2006 01:02 pmI just read in Entertainment Weekly that they're making a movie out of my favorite Stephen King short story, "1408." I originally read it in the book Blood and Smoke or Smoke and Blood (I can't remember the order, but it was in the same book as "Quitters, Inc."). But I do remember that the story, just reading it, creeped me out enough that I jumped out of my skin when a person walked by when I wasn't expecting them to. It was a very good story, but I just don't think it will make a good movie. I can't see it "translating" very well.
In other prelim news, I think I may be done with my booklists. One is 8 pages long, one is 6, and the last one is 6, but I might get it up to 7 by the end of the day as I add all of the citations I culled from the library last night. They're single spaced. Today, out of curiosity, I asked a friend how long hers were. She said 10 pages. So I panicked and wondered just how much more reading I could do in the 2 1/2 weeks until I start taking these things. Then she said, "The ten was all three combined." Now I think I might have over researched a little. So now I'm feeling more confident. I've only got the one professor who might screw me, but no amount of research or preparation is going to prevent that, and I think my advisor might talk her out of it with promises of a coauthorship on an article we're planning to write next fall. *fingers crossed*
