My unconscious is working overtime.
Jan. 19th, 2006 10:27 amI have had extremely vivid dreams
this past week. I tend to dream a lot and, most of the time, I
wake up fully entertained. Hell, there have been times when I've
woken myself up with laughter. Most of the time, I don't even
mind my nightmares. But this week, it has just been one dream
after another after another. What I've noticed:
Strange themes: In a dream, if I'm a witness or victim to a crime, I can never dial 911 correctly. It has gotten to the point where, in the dream, I actually have the thought, "If I can't dial this right, I'll know it's a dream." Last night, as I watched a bank robbery from across the street, I dialed 899, 881, 789, 113, and 991 before I gave up and told some gang bangers to stop trying to recruit the little boy I was baby sitting into their gang. (The bank robbery and the gang had nothing to do with one another and all of this took place outside of a store that sold scarves. *cringe* What's wrong with me?)
Disturbing themes: In a dream, if there is any promise of "romance" with whatever guy I've conjured, I suddenly have an audience or someone about to walk in (usually one or more family members). Um. I'm not even going to try and figure out what this means.
Fun themes: Various actors and movie stars make cameos in my dream. Lately, the cast of House has been showing up. I'm not complaining. I totally dig that show and they can visit me whenever they like. But it's probably because I'm not creative enough to think up original characters that I have to resort to using movie stars.
There are definitely times when the dreams mean something, but most of the time, I really don't want to know what's going on inside my head.
